Well, as you may have read in the previous post, the first attempt at this animation went a little bit wrong. Well, I’ve done it all over again. I made the fluid a higher resolution (200), changed the anim from 100 frames to 250 frames (10 seconds) and a little nod to the Blender Underground. Here is the result:
There are an awful lot of fluid simulations (made with Blender) on YouTube. Most of them seem to be following the standard “glob of liquid into a cup” tutorial but there are also a lot of very inventive ones. Continue reading
Here’s a little picture I cobbled together this evening in Blender. It’s the jewel-thief penguin from the Wallace and Gromit film “The Wrong Trousers”. One of my favourite films, by the way.
Blender is going through some really interesting and exciting development at the moment. This particular image uses the latest “approximate ambient occlusion” feature available in the development builds.

Here’s the result of a test I did with Blender’s great new particle system. It’s only in the SVN builds at the moment, but it works great. You can comb and cut and groom the hair. Marvelous. I call this one “Barry Manilow with no eye, dear.”

This is an amazing animation created by a friend of mine (I hope he sees me as a friend) using Blender, Yafray and tons of skill. Completely modeled and animated by Menotodokukagiri.
I think it is a beautiful piece of work featuring, quite simply, a music box playing its music. I highly recommend you to go and have a look and a defy you to not watch the whole animation.

OK. Things are gradually coming together. I now have the feed from this blog going to dave.bloopdiary.com and thebigdavec.googlepages.com.
At the moment, the googlepages site is more complete in style and content. I need to remedy this. Of course, they both have the same, incredibly silly, picture of me on them. Something else I need to remedy.
Today I managed to sort out (repair) the CSS on my site AND (boy, am I proud of myself) I got my blog feed to appear listed on my front page. Everytime I add an entry to my blog, it will automatically appear at http://dave.bloopdiary.com.
I guess I need to start using my blog a lot more now. He he. Blog-a-lot. I like that.
“Big deal!” I hear you shout. Well, let me explain. I am the king of gadget geeks in my family (and Sarah’s family). Yet I have only just bought a DVD recorder. I have DVD burners for computers but I have never owned a standard ‘plug in to the telly’ DVD recorder. And it’s great!
Where we used to have to switch a SCART box to choose between cable TV, the video and the DVD player, we can now watch cable going through the video going through the DVD recorder! No more switching. We can record all of our old VHS footage on to DVD. We can record telly programs direct to DVD. Which means I can use TV footage on my PC too!
As I type we are transferring the first of Sharmaine’s baby videos over. All this came at the price of just £80. Techno-bliss

It’s a brand new year and I’d like to wish everyone all the best for the next 12 months. Personally, it’s been a hectic ’07 and I can’t imagine why ’08 would be any different. I guess I’ll just have to ride the wave.
