Somebody’s linked to meeeeee!

Oh, cool. Look at this. Somebody’s put a link to a tutorial of mine on their website (http://blender-3d.startpagina.nl/).

Look…

Look, Its Me!

Look, It's Me!

Looks like a great resource for anything to do with Blender. Shame it’s in dutch, cos I don’t understand dutch. Nonetheless, most of the site seems easy enough to decipher. Thanks for the link, whoever you may be.

Just a silly little comedy idea my friends and I decided to film and subject the world to. Sorry, folks. 😉

Bullet shooting through water cube in Blender

This is the result of another of those projects I put myself through in order to help someone else figure out a problem. It involved getting some fluid to remain cube shaped and shooting a bullet through it.

Blender Tutorial: Use Compositor to blend between backgrounds

This tutorial was produced using Blender 2.49b.

Example of completed tutorial video:

The object of this tutorial is to show you how to use the compositor to fade between three identically placed planes with different textures on them. You will need to make sure you have some pictures (three, preferably) to use as backgrounds. I recommend creating a folder for this tutorial project and saving the images into it. Here are the three pictures I used:

From 3D Graphics
From Photography
From 3D Gallery

Tyre with squash at the base in Blender

This model of a tyre (a very simple tyre) started off as just a segment mirrored with the mirror modifier then copied 36 times using the array modifier and finally subsurfed. The slight squash at the bottom of the tyre was achieved using a lattice.

I added a second copy of the tyre in exactly the same place but with a different material to produce the wireframe which has the alpha keyframed to make it fade in and out.

Maybe I should have not had the vector blur on the wireframe part of the render.

And the camera change was done using the camera change script which is bundled with Blender.

PS. Blender is FREE!!

iPhone style sheet plug-in

Ive installed a plug-in to make my blog appear different (and very stylish) when viewed on mobile devices. Well, it looks good on my iPod, anyway.

If anyone is viewing this on any other mobile device, perhaps you can leave me some feedback to let me know how it looks.

Bucket shaped thing dropping down some steps

I was trying out several features of  Blender in this little test. Normal maps, physics, arrays, vector blur (motion blur), DoF defocusing, tracking constraints. The main test was the normal maps. All of the shapes and lines on the bucket shaped object are normal mapped.

It may seem pointless to some but it’s all about learning for me.
